  • Class 1 Meet the Illustrator

Class 1 have been learning about the author and illustrator Ed Vere through his delightful story Grumpy Frog. We explored how Ed Vere uses expressive illustrations, colour and character emotions to bring his stories to life and help readers understand how characters are feeling.

Inspired by Grumpy Frog, the children looked closely at the main character and discussed the different emotions he experiences throughout the story. They experimented with drawing and painting techniques to create their own frog artwork, paying particular attention to facial expressions, colour and texture.

Through this project, the children developed their artistic skills while also reflecting on the importance of friendship, kindness and understanding our emotions. They showed great creativity and imagination as they produced their own unique interpretations of the story.

The children demonstrated our STRIDE characteristics by showing scholarship through learning about a well-known illustrator, creativity and curiosity in their artistic exploration, resilience when improving and refining their work, and independence in expressing their own ideas through art.

We are incredibly proud of the fantastic artwork created by Class 1 and the enthusiasm they showed while exploring the wonderful world of Ed Vere.
