  • Medical, Health and Safety Information

The health, safety and wellbeing of our children are our highest priorities. We work closely with families to ensure that every child is safe, supported and able to make the most of their time at school.

    Reporting Absence

If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please contact the school office as soon as possible on the first day of absence. If your child remains absent, please keep us informed each day unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

Children who are unwell should remain at home until they are well enough to participate fully in the school day and any recommended exclusion periods have been completed.

    Medical Conditions

We are committed to supporting children with medical conditions so that they can access all aspects of school life. If your child has a medical condition, allergy or healthcare need, please inform us as soon as possible and provide any relevant information, care plans or medical advice.

Where required, Individual Healthcare Plans will be developed in partnership with parents, healthcare professionals and school staff.

    Medication in School

If your child requires medication during the school day, please contact the school office. Prescription medication can only be administered when appropriate consent forms have been completed and procedures followed in line with our Medicines Policy.

All medication must be provided in its original packaging with the pharmacy label clearly visible.

    Allergies and Dietary Requirements

Please let us know if your child has any allergies, food intolerances or dietary requirements. We take allergies seriously and work closely with families, catering providers and healthcare professionals to ensure children are safe in school. Please complete the allergy form below, and return to the office.

    First Aid and Accidents

Qualified first aiders are available on site throughout the school day. If your child has a minor accident, first aid will be administered as required. Parents will be informed of any significant injuries, bumps to the head or accidents that require further monitoring.

If emergency medical treatment is required, we will contact emergency services and parents immediately.

    Supporting Wellbeing

Children learn best when they feel safe, happy and supported. We promote positive physical and mental wellbeing through our curriculum, pastoral care, Forest School, physical activity and strong relationships across our school community.

If you have concerns about your child's emotional wellbeing, please speak to your child's teacher so that we can work together to provide support.

    Keeping Children Safe

The safety of our pupils is everyone's responsibility. We ask parents and carers to:

    • Ensure all emergency contact details are kept up to date.

    • Inform the school of any changes to medical information.

    • Follow school drop-off and collection procedures.

    • Keep children at home when they are unwell.

    • Share any concerns that may affect their child's wellbeing, learning or safety.

    Collecting Children

For safeguarding reasons, please inform the school if someone different will be collecting your child. We will only release children to authorised adults.

    Managing Risks

Risk assessments are carried out for school activities, educational visits, Forest School sessions and the school environment. We teach children how to recognise, assess and manage risks appropriately so that they can learn safely and develop independence and resilience.

    Working Together

By keeping us informed about your child's health and wellbeing, we can work together to ensure they are safe, happy and ready to learn every day. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. We are always happy to help.
