At Newton Burgoland Primary School, we are proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding partnership between schools and the police.
Operation Encompass ensures that, when the police attend an incident of domestic abuse where a child has been present, experienced or may have been affected by the incident, the school is informed before the start of the next school day. This information is shared confidentially with trained safeguarding staff so that we can provide appropriate support, care and understanding for the child.
Our priority is always the safety, wellbeing and emotional health of our pupils. Through Operation Encompass, we can help children feel secure, supported and ready to learn, particularly during times when family circumstances may be difficult.
Information is shared on a strictly need-to-know basis and is handled in accordance with safeguarding procedures and data protection requirements.
