EYFS NEW STARTERS
Congratulations, you have a place at our fantastic school!
We are looking forward to welcoming you into our school family.
We are delighted that your child has been offered a place at our school, Newton Burgoland, starting in August 2026.
With August fast approaching, we’d like to start getting to know you and your child and share details about our transition process. We place great importance on the transition into primary school and are committed to making it a positive experience for every child and their family. Our aim is to ensure that this next step in your child’s journey feels safe, supportive and full of excitement for the year ahead.
This years transition will consist of:

On Friday 19th June at 1:30pm, we will be holding our first transition afternoon, our ‘Stay and Play’ session. This is an opportunity for children to come along, explore the classroom, and get to know Miss Wood and Mrs Everitt. During this time, I shall be holding an EYFS Parents’ Information Meeting in the hall. This session will provide an overview of the EYFS curriculum, along with key information about school timings and uniform. After the meeting, you are welcome to join your child in the classroom.

On Thursday 2nd July, we will be holding our transition morning. This session will give the children the opportunity to become more familiar with the school routine and to meet the other children in their class. The session is for children only and will run from 9:00am until 12:15pm. You are then welcome to join the children from 12:15 to 1:00pm for lunch, where both you and your child will have the opportunity to try our school meals.
Our school website contains a range of helpful resources for you to share with your child at home before they start school. There will be paper copies of these resources handed out during the Parents’ Information Meeting. We encourage you to explore these with your child, as they will help them become familiar with their new teachers and the school environment. These resources can be found below and on our school website under the section EYFS New Starters.
