Creativity, Reasoning, Communicating
"Pupils described the school as ‘Brilliant Burgoland’ and ‘The Best’
Only the best is good enough for our pupils. Learning outside (including forest schools), art, music, dance and drama are an integral part of our curriculum and our pupils thrive.
Music lessons are taught, in keystage 2, on Thursday by the amazing Mr Murry. Children learn valuable skills in composition, singing and the use of percussion instruments. All of our pupils learn to play a range of instruments including steel pans and P-Buzz. . This term we are learning turntablism.
Art is taught within topics and has benefited from support by Martin Harvey, educational consultant and Paul Carney, Art Advisor. Visiting artists enhance our curriculum. Last year we worked with Chellie the illustrator of the books we were using in power reading. This year we are looking forward to working with Creatureama artist Anthony James in our Eco week- an event the year 6 pupils are planning with Mrs Foster to reduce our plastic waste and help save the oceans.
We enjoy a range of visits and visitors sharing their creativity with us including: authors, theatre groups and museum educators.
We have started our school journey to introduce Philosophy.
To support our ability to communicate and work with all others we change partner regularly and pair up with other local small schools.
Working together to learn in year 3 and 4.
