Newton Burgoland Primary School

Together We Can Achieve Excellence

School Uniform

Our Governing Body believes that all children should attend school neatly and suitably dressed and expect pupils to wear the school colours – a royal blue top with grey trousers/skirt. We ask that the children come to school in sensible flat black shoes. The infants’ shoes should have either buckle (or Velcro) fastenings. Neither trainers (except for PE Day) nor boots are an acceptable form of footwear for normal classroom activities, and shoes should not have high heels. The advice of the School Medical Officer is that the wearing of high heels will affect the child’s well-being and development.

Our School Uniform:

  • Royal Blue Sweatshirt with or without school emblem
  • Royal Blue or White polo shirts with or without school emblem
  • Grey school trousers, shorts or skirt (skirts should be no shorter than knee-length, shorts should be at least mid-thigh length)
  • Blue Pique Dress
  • Royal Blue book bags with school emblem - no rucksacks please
  • Royal Blue fleeces with or without school emblem
  • Royal Blue PE bags

Please Note; no rucksacks - only book bags in school, thank you

Branded School Uniform items can be ordered online through the suppliers below.

Please Note: we advise all parents to check supplier deadlines when ordering especially before the start of the new school year. In our experience, uniform required for the end of August should be ordered by the middle of July.

Please also note that generic items can be purchased in place of school-branded items. Most supermarkets and high street stores sell uniform in our school colours for a very reasonable price.

Pre-loved Uniform

The Friends of Newton Burgoland School run a pre-loved school uniform 'shop' to help raise money for the school. They offer excellent quality pre-loved items of uniform from as little as 50p. For a current list of available items, please email: FriendsofNBSchool@outlook.com
Please do support our PFA and make use of this facility to grab a bargain!

PE Kit

All pupils should come to school in PE uniform on days when they have PE or an active after-school club. Please check Diary Dates and Arbor messages for any changes or extra PE days.

Pupils in KS1 may wear the PE uniform all week during the colder months to support comfort when learning outdoors.

Our PE kit consists of the following items:
     Royal Blue Hoodie
Navy Blue Jogging bottoms or leggings
Navy Blue Shorts (no cycling shorts)
     Royal Blue T-shirt

A PE uniform pack, printed with the pupils' name, can be ordered online from Liss Sport. See their website for up-to-date prices - http://www.lisssport.co.uk/newtonburg or by printing their order form, (see below). Individual items can also be purchased.

There is no requirement for pupils to have branded PE uniform, as long as any items purchased from elsewhere are in the correct school colours and have minimal, discreet branding (eg, no large Nike, Adidas logos, etc)

Note:

  • All pupils can wear their trainers/plimsolls to school on PE day (see newsletter for PE days).
  • All pupils will need to keep a spare pair of trainers/plimsolls in school, in a drawstring bag, in case their other shoes become wet or muddy.
  • KS1 will need to keep their plimsolls plus a change of clothes (shorts, socks, pants) in school, in case of accidents.

No jewellery should be worn for P.E. Children who have their ears pierced should do so at the start of the summer break so that studs can be removed by the autumn. If children are unable to remove ear-studs, parents must provide tape/plasters in school for pupils to cover their ear jewellery.

FOREST SCHOOLS

Pupils will need to bring the following to school, in a bag, for each session: -

  • Wellies/strong boots
  • Suitable coat for the weather – e.g. waterproof/warm
  • Long trousers - suitable for the weather (no shorts)
  • Tops with long sleeves
  • Sun hat & cream if the weather is warm

Please note: Pupils without appropriate clothing for Forest Schools or PE will not be able to take part; we do not send reminders home for missing kit

General information

All belongings must clearly show the owner’s name. MyNameTags stickers are a great way to identify your children's belongings. You can order here using our School ID (30109) which will also help to raise money for our school, giving 24% back on each order placed: https://www.mynametags.com/affiliate?id=30109

Long hair should be tied back. Make-up and nail varnish must not be worn in school, nails should be kept short.

For health and safety reasons necklaces, chains and bracelets must not be worn, and only the smallest stud earrings are acceptable.

All children from Year 3 to Year 6 attend swimming sessions during the year. The girls will need one-piece swimming costumes and the boys swimming trunks in addition to their normal P.E. kit. Please note that boys should wear trunks not shorts, again for health and safety reasons. It is expected that children will wear a swimming hat.

Valuables and money

Please do not allow your child to bring valuable possessions into school unless a special arrangement has been made with a member of staff. In the event that money is brought into school for special events it should be carried in an envelope or purse clearly marked with the child’s name. School does not take responsibility for valuable possessions that are lost or damaged.
